Hadlow Parish Council serves the communities of Hadlow and Golden Green. There are 13 parish councillors, two of them representing Golden Green ward. All are unpaid volunteers who give up their time for the benefit of the community in which they live or work. Elections are held every four years.
The Council administers a wide range of amenities within the parish to ensure they are maintained in proper order. It also comments on local planning applications before they are decided by Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council. For matters outside the parish council’s remit, such as highways or policing, it will take up local concerns with the relevant authorities.
Hadlow Parish Council is responsible for:
- Hadlow Old School Hall and annexe
- The cemetery
- The allotments
- Williams Field (including football pitch)
- Play equipment, ballpark and skatepark
- Signpost Field
- Village centre open spaces and roadside flower beds
- St Mary’s churchyard
- Some street lighting
The Council has two main sub-committees: Planning & Environment and Finance & General Purposes. The minutes of all meetings are published here. The full Council meets on the second Monday of each month at either Hadlow Old School hall or Golden Green hall. Members of the public are very welcome to attend, and each meeting includes time for public questions or comments.
The Parish Council raises money from hall hire, rents from the medical centre and recreational facilities, and cemetery and allotment fees. But the biggest single source of income is the precept from TMBC, which collects all council tax and then distributes it to every parish in the borough as well as to the county, fire and police authorities.
The Annual Parish Meeting, held each April, is an opportunity for parish residents to find out what the Council has been doing for the past year and how the money has been spent.
The Parish Office is in Hadlow Old School Hall. You can telephone or email the office (01732 851878 – email@example.com) – or drop by during opening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9am until 12 noon.
