KCC are asking for comments on sand and gravel extraction sites identified in their Minerals and Waste Local Plan.

One of these is an extension to the existing site (M13) at Stonecastle Farm, Whetsted Rd, and which comes very close to Hartlake Bridge and Road. There’s a sense of déjà vu as there was a similar proposal in 2000, which was eventually rejected after strong local opposition.

Residents Alan Chilvers and Linda Daker have highlighted the fact that we only have this month to comment on this Plan. Do so online or email KCC Planning Applications head sharon.thompson@kent.gov.uk or write to KCC Policy Team, 1st Floor, Invicta House, Maidstone ME14 1XX by 29 March.

Thanks to everyone who contacted KCC before the 29 March deadline, regarding the proposed gravel extraction site next to Hartlake Road. While we wait for news, we should not rest on our laurels. If you haven’t done so already, tell our MP Tom Tugendhat about your concerns (House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA or tom.tugendhat.mp@parliament.uk) and write to the local papers.
