Hadlow Parish Council are looking for a Facilities Administrator to help us monitor, inspect, maintain, operate, and secure Council grounds, facilities and equipment to the required safety and performance standards and related legislation.

The Council

Hadlow Parish Council is a rural Parish Council, with 13 Councillors representing some 3,500 households in Hadlow, Kent. The Council owns and / or maintains two play areas, cemetery, allotments, cricket ground, two community halls, a closed churchyard and runs a community minibus scheme, in addition to maintaining local footpaths and borders under licence with KCC.

The Role/job brief

The Parish Council are looking for a Facilities Administrator to help us monitor, inspect, maintain, operate, and secure Council grounds, facilities and equipment to the required safety and performance standards and related legislation. Whilst experience is preferred, training will be provided where required.

The job will include establishing templates for and carrying out building management and inspection, overseeing operation of and vehicle safety for the community Minibuses (2) & Parish truck, for which appropriate driving licence will be required, carrying out inspections within open spaces. It will also include assisting the Clerk in organising repairs and maintenance, liaising with contractors, gaining quotations, and recording status of project tasks and preparing clear and detailed reports for the Council’s attention.

The position is multi-faceted and a real opportunity to be a valuable part of the Council across a breadth of tasks.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in property management projects, preferably in a local government role or other field requiring reasonable knowledge of health and safety standards. A working knowledge of IT in order to create and maintain digital records is also preferred.

We are looking for someone with excellent time management skills together with flexibility and a can-do, hands on, proactive attitude.

A driver’s licence category B1 or D1 will be required and a number of other criteria will apply in order to drive the minibuses including a minimum age of 25 years.

The successful applicant will be subject to a DBS check.

The Offer

The normal hours of work will be flexible but will generally be between 9am-2pm three days per week on average (15 hours per week). Due to the nature of the role occasional weekend and evening working will be required by prior arrangement. These hours will be recompensed either by means of time off in lieu or payment at the contracted hourly rate, as determined by the Clerk.

NJC Local Government services pay agreement will apply – SCP 8 – 10 (£10.62 – £11.05 hourly rate)
