Photo Diary: Cemetery Extension Phase 1B

Follow our photo diary over the coming weeks as Phase 1B of the cemetery extension gets underway:

Week 4:

  • They are now laying the base level for drive.

Week 3:

  • Water Supply route has been completed up to where the Bin Store connection will be located
  • All Land Drainage (Pipework, Manholes & Rodding eye) for the pathways has been installed and backfilled
  • All Carriageway Gullies have been installed, concreted in place, and connected to existing land drainage system.
  • As of today, the pathway extents have been set out and excavated, and the Timber Edgings have been started. Carriageway is being excavated to formation level as we speak.

Week 2: Despite the rain this week the contractors have now completed the installation of water pipeline to the cemetery extension and have connected drainage pipes. The grounds maintenance team are also working hard at the cemetery this week cutting grass and strimming.

Week 1: Installing a water pipe from the tap in the cemetery to enable an additional tap to be used in the cemetery extension. They have worked in phases starting with top line, digging out, laying pipe, putting soil back and compacting before going down the main stretch of drive. Doing the pipe work in stages means that road access to the cemetery remains open to the public. Once the water pipe has been put in place they will start working on connecting all other drainage.
