Golden Green Coffee Morning – getting everybody together

We are planning to have a coffee morning to celebrate the start of the easing of lockdown …
– This Thursday 30th July
– 10.30am

– under the tent in the garden behind the Bell (the old bat and trap field)
– bring your own mug to minimise covid risks.
– by kind permission of the Bell – Justin, Clare and Nigel
– open to everybody in the village
The Bell garden is set up with widely spaced tables so we will be following all the government guidelines on social distancing. Be aware and stay alert – if you feel the risk is too high, stay well away from other people – and/or wear a mask.

The Bell – an update

Isn’t it wonderful to see the Bell open again? We are very lucky that Clare, Nigel and Justin have taken it on and have put a lot of money and time into transforming it into a welcoming venue for the village. In particular they have introduced food on Saturdays as requested by many residents and the recent family paella day was fantastic and well supported. Especially welcome news is that their hard work has been recognised by the award of a Five Star rating for food hygiene after inspection by TMBC – a great achievement!

The Bell team are very keen that they are supported by the whole community. They do want to continue to organise similar small scale ‘themed events’ which are very popular in the village, but at the same time they are conscious that they need to minimise any impact on the surrounding community. They intend to make sure that any music will be in line with government guidelines and licensing laws. and does not continue too late and they are keen to engage with locals who may have any problems – so if you have any issues please do either talk to them or to me and we can see how we can help.

Next event – Saturday August 1st 2pm to 6pm

‘Remember the ones we have lost over the last few months and before’.. Miss Vintage will be singing in the garden/yard 2pm-6pm. You will need to book your tables but they will be at no cost as a lovely local has sponsored this event to give everyone the chance to remember. Please book via messenger or call/text Clare 07881816227

The Bell is our only community hub and it is vital to the well-being of the village – we need it to flourish.

Swap Shop

A big thank you to Alan and Sarah Chilvers who sold some furniture and donated the proceeds to the GGA. Their idea for the village is that we set up a ‘swap shop’; anybody interested in this as an idea might like to get in touch with them sarahchilvers@btinternet.com.

Hadlow College Farm Shop closing

The Hadlow College administrators have decided to close the Farm Shop on Ashes Lane (off A26, opposite the Rose Revived) on 31 July. It’s a great shame because it has been an important asset to the community, a wonderfully friendly place to buy local produce and a lifeline for many vulnerable people during the lockdown. If you would like to lend your voice to the many who would like to persuade the new incoming Kent College management team to reopen the shop, if you are on Facebook please visit the Save Hadlow College Farm Shop group. #SaveHadlowCollegeFarmShop #shoplocal

Village Sign Update

The purchase of the new post is under way, a new bench is to be constructed and the sign has been refurbished until it gleams by Howard Rogers.

Hadlow Pantomime

Owing to the present crisis, sadly HADS will not be presenting a pantomime in Hadlow in January for the first time in 36 years.

Hadlow Hospital Transport Service

This is still being run by Mike Harvey to take residents of Hadlow & Golden Green who
