The good news is that we are only a couple of weeks away from the day when the evenings start getting lighter and, as the Hamlet shows, we have a busy month to get through. Meanwhile we will have to stay vigilant about new infections – so keep safe.
Looking ahead, we will have our annual seniors lunch on the third Wednesday of January. The current team took over running this event over twenty years ago; when they were in their forties and fifties and their ‘guests’ were in their sixties and seventies. Time moves on … so we are now in our sixties and seventies and alas not many of those original ‘guests’ are still with us. So it may be that this time we will be both organisers and ‘guests’! But it would be good to welcome some younger blood into the organising team …. please get in touch – there is a free lunch in it!

GG Coffee & Cake for Charity in the Hall

Thursday 2 December –  10.30am in the Mission Hall

This month’s Gathering is in aid of Porchlight, a Kent homelessness charity, so relevant as we approach Christmas. Please come along and eat cake, drink coffee and chat. And we can also think about plans for our Carol Service on 19 December. Last month’s coffee morning raised £154 for the RBL Poppy Appeal.

Golden Green Children’s Christmas Party

Sunday 19 December –  11am – 12.30pm in the Mission Hall (also known as the Village Hall)

The Golden Green Association are hosting a Christmas party for the children who live in the village. We will have party games and a visit from Father Christmas. The ideal age group will be 3-7 years but there will be some activities for younger siblings to enjoy too.

This is a free event courtesy of the GGA but we are asking parents or guardians to bring along a small, wrapped gift, labelled with your child’s full name. One of the village elves will collect these up during the party ready for Father Christmas to deliver them.

We have space for 20 children and you can secure your space by emailing libbytaylor@gmail.com with the names of each child who will be joining in. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate anyone who turns up on the day without having booked. Parents and guardians will need to stay for the duration of the event.

There will be some refreshments and we would always welcome any donations of mince pies or a cake to add to the fun.

Current Government Covid-19 guidelines will be followed and we will keep a close eye on any changes that may impact the event.

Golden Green Carol Service

Thursday 19 December –  4pm in the Mission Hall

We have no vicar presiding so this year we will do a carol service with a difference. Pat’s clarinet choir will accompany the carols and also play some fun arrangements and we will have a selection of Christmas readings. All of course followed by mulled cider and mince pies. The clarinet choir will start playing at 3.40 so please come early. and please let me have ideas of readings and offers to read them! We are conscious of the current infection risks so will probably need to have plenty of ventilation … so come wrapped up!
