Winter seems to be around the corner, although I am still doggedly wearing my shorts! So, looking ahead …

– Having raised £170 for Macmillan nurses in September, our coffee gatherings will go indoors and become a once-a-month charity bring.cake/buy.cake/eat.cake/have.a.coffee on a Thursday in the Mission hall – so 10.30am this Thursday for the Poppy Appeal. Your chance to get your poppy. Ideas please for a charity for early December.

– Starting to think about December, and I would like to see if we can get a Golden Green wind group to play carols around the village (in the pub?). So, calling on anybody who can play any brass or woodwind instrument (sax?), young and old, anything from grade 2/grade 3 to grade 8 to play simple carols (remember the carols we played in the dark last year?!) Please let me know if you or your children can help.

– Thinking about what we do for a carol service this year – it would normally be 19 December at 4pm but at the moment Hadlow doesn’t have a vicar so we may be looking to adapt the formula … ideas welcome … readings/music? Watch this space.

– Libby Taylor is planning to organise a children and tots village Christmas party in the hall (with a Santa?) Let her know if you are interested or can help.

– Keep well … get your booster if summoned!

Alec

Every Friday night – Burgers, Cocktails, Disco Night!

Monthly Saturday Quiz – date tbc £3 entry, Bar prize.

“Best night I have had out in a pub for twenty years”; “Congratulations – excellent night out”; “Just what a local should be” – just a few of the comments from our weekend events! The London Cockney Night received such a great response we’re considering a monthly themed event (anyone with ideas for a theme please contact us). The Bell Inn wishes to thank all who attended – most of our visitors came from East Peckham and Hadlow, and we had great attendance from Bourne Park; there were a few other GG residents but we’d really love to see more of you from the rest of Golden Green!

We’re planning a few days of Christmas lunches and evening dinners with entertainment during December – booking only. And we’re also looking at several craft fairs from now to Christmas, starting with one on 28 November

Please support your local pub – now more than ever, we need you!

Garden Waste Update

TMBC are doing a one-off collection of brown bins. It’s being done on a collection-day basis, so they are currently doing all Monday households in T Wells, then Tonbridge & Malling, then it will be our turn for brown bins normally collected on a Tuesday and so on. However, your collection is unlikely to be on your usual day so look out for their email two days before yours is due, or keep checking their website. It’s taking some time to clear the backlog, as you can imagine, as they only have two crews not the usual six. They will not take extra bags and there’s no indication yet when normal service will resume.

Three Elm Service Station

The BP garage is closed on 3 & 4 November while it’s being refurbished and a Greggs is going to be installed. At other times, the fuel pumps and jet washes are operating as normal but limited instore stock is available until completion expected by 17 November. It will remain a Budgens.
