Gary Bunt (1957-2025)
Gary Bunt was born in East Peckham and lived on Medway View for many years. He was a much-loved character in the village – just a local lad and battling with ill health for many years … but in fact a much sought artist, exhibiting regularly in London. You wouldn’t believe the number of famous people who came to Golden Green to visit him. He was originally a bricklayer who taught himself painting. His naïve, nostalgic paintings of a burly farmer and his dog in a lost pastoral England were very popular and he had a waiting list of potential buyers. He will be missed – our condolences to Lynn his wife.
Road Closures and Works
Tonbridge Road is closed from 4-7 August at Little Mill (near the Man of Kent) for repair and maintenance works by South East Water.
Hadlow High Street has temporary traffic lights from 4-16 August while drainage works are carried out and again on 20 August from 9.30am-3.30pm for OpenReach works.
Tudeley Road has temporary traffic lights scheduled near the junction with Hartlake Road from 18-19 August for works by KCC Highways.
Blackmans Lane is scheduled to be closed from 22-24 September for works by South East Water.
A21 roadworks and overnight closures will continue on various dates until October. (See the traffic map at https://one.network/ for more details).
More information including diversion routes can be found on the traffic map at https://one.network/ though we can’t guarantee that it’s up to date! Any deviation from the dates given are down to the contractor(s) concerned.
You can report non-urgent problems with roads and pavements to KCC online at https://www.kent.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/report-a-problem. This includes street light faults, potholes, drainage, traffic signal faults and overgrown vegetation (including hedges and grass).
