Happy new year to all our residents and I hope everybody managed to make the most of a once-again-reduced Christmas. The good news is that the latest figures show that 65% of people over 12 in Hadlow and East Peckham have had their boosters and there are only 50 people in Maidstone/Pembury with Covid (it was over 300 this time last year). So we hope that this wave may be shorter and less severe and we may soon be able to relax a little. It is better to organise events in hope and then cancel than not to organise at all! So as you will see below, we are still planning to have our charity coffee (13 Jan) and seniors lunch (19 Jan) but watch this space – things are changing by the day.

Mission Hall bookings

The GG hall is now available for bookings. Contact Rob Seall, 1 Bell Cottages 850664 r.seall@gmail.com.

New Year Refuse & Recycling Collection Arrangements

See the TMBC website for details of New Year collection arrangements >>

Collections on 3-7 January will be made one day later than normal, finishing on Saturday 8 January.

Monday 10 January – normal service resumes (except garden waste)
Don’t forget to recycle your cards and non-shiny wrapping paper.

Brown Bin Garden Waste remains suspended but Goldhill Mill are collecting real Christmas trees, which are shredded into bedding for their ducks – leave your tree outside for collection. Alternatively, some charities will collect in return for a donation.

Carols

Our last minute change to singing carols outside this year seemed to go down very well and we raised £180 for Childrens Liver Disease ….. so my question for everybody is: next year should we do an indoor carol service, or an outdoor carol singalong, or a carol singalong in the Bell; or two or all of the above. Comments welcome …….

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

You will see on the Hadlow newsletter that various events are being planned including a procession and Hadlow village picnic on Sunday 5th June. What should we in do in Golden Green – perhaps a village picnic of our own on the newly created lawn behind the village hall – I was thinking of naming it the Jubilee Lawn! Ideas please ……
