Mission Hall bookings

The Golden Green Hall is available for bookings. Contact Nicky Whapshott goldengreenhall@gmail.com or 07702 212317. We would like to thank Robert and Rosalind, who are stepping down from the hall manager role, for their years of service, especially during the difficult covid years. Going forward, we will have a team looking after the hall, led by Nicky Whapshott and Angela McSheehy – and we would welcome others to join the team.

Rosemary Blackburn

It is with sadness we report the death of Rosemary Blackburn, who had lived in the village since the early 80s. On joining the WI, she soon became a valued committee member, taking on the role of President for many years. Rosemary was the WI Representative on the GG Association Committee. At the annual summer fetes, she served on the bric-a-brac stall and baked for the cake stall. One of her many claims to fame was as an impresario, when she arranged the screening of a long-lost film about hop picking in Kent; for two nights, the hall was bursting with audiences of over 90 people.

Rosemary Blackburn

Rosemary belonged to The Quilters’ Guild and won Best in Show at Hever Castle for her beautiful patchwork (see photo). Her appliqué work depicting the village sign can be seen as part of the WI wall hanging in the Mission Hall. Her contribution to the village will be sorely missed and our thoughts are with Chris and family.
