Road Closures and Works

Cemetery Lane is closed until Monday 10 March to clear fly-tipped domestic rubbish that is blocking the road. The good news is it looks like Blackmans Lane won’t be closed after all this week (as scheduled by KCC for drainage works); the notification has been removed from One Network.

More information including diversion routes can be found on the traffic map at https://one.network/ though we can’t guarantee that it’s up to date! Any deviation from the dates given are down to the contractor(s) concerned.

You can report non-urgent problems with roads and pavements to KCC online at https://www.kent.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/report-a-problem. This includes street light faults, potholes, drainage, traffic signal faults and overgrown vegetation (including hedges and grass).

Sponsor Amber in the London Marathon 2025 – Update

Amber Fairhurst is participating in the London Marathon next month in aid of Children with Cancer UK. She’s raised over £2500 so far! But somehow the address of her fundraising page got lost in the February Hamlet posted on Facebook on 11 February. (The issue emailed to subscribers was ok.) Her fundraising page is https://2025tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/amber-fairhurst

Home Library Service

Make a difference in your local community by volunteering with the Home Library Service

Are you looking for a way to make a real difference in your community? The Home Library Service provided by Kent Libraries offers you the perfect opportunity to do just that. Whether you’re looking to stay active, learn new skills, or simply bring joy to others, volunteering with the Home Library Service means supporting those who find it difficult to visit the library owing to various reasons such as disability, carer responsibilities, injury or ill health.

As a volunteer, you’ll bring more than just books to people’s homes, you’ll share stories, create connections and provide companionship. Volunteers help by collecting reserved books from the library, or selecting items from our shelves based on the service user’s interests, deliver them to people at home, and then collect them for return. With your help we can ensure everyone has access to a diverse range of books and resources.

The Home Library Service offers a flexible way to volunteer, allowing you to choose when and how often you give your time, making it easy to fit into your life.

Ready to make a difference? Learn more about volunteering with the Home Library Service by visiting www.kent.gov.uk and searching for “Volunteer for the Home Library Service”, or by calling 03000 41 69 96.
