Golden Green Speedwatch Appeal

Time to reduce the incidence of speeding through Golden Green! Andy Bowerman is coordinating a new Speedwatch group in Golden Green to discourage speeding though the village. Speedwatch is not a new idea. It has enjoyed several outings over the years and earned a mixed reputation. It is not being promoted as a cure-all for speeding but rather as one valuable contribution that communities can make towards tackling the issue. Training for volunteers along with systems and procedures within the Police have been improved in recent years. If you would like to be part of the team in Golden Green, email Andy at goldengreenspeedwatch@gmail.com

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2023

This year’s appeal is from 26 October to 12 November. Every poppy counts, and your contribution will make a real difference to the lives of the Armed Forces community who have given so much fortheir country. If you can spare an hour or two to help with house-to-house collections in Golden Green and Hadlow, please contact Sean on 01732 850048 or email gghamlet@outlook.com.

Road Closures

Hartlake Road is scheduled to be closed for UK Power Networks cable installations until 12 October, although it has been frustrating that nothing has actually happened for two weeks – they have been waiting for the cables to be connected before they can repair the road surface again. At least no cars have yet fallen into one of the very large holes that have been left.

It won’t be open for long though, as SGN are scheduled to close it again from 30 October to 24 November to finish replacing the gas mains. Does anyone know when SGN are coming back to finish the work in Three Elm Lane? It was scheduled from early October (to mid-February 2024!) but there’s been no update for some time.

Minibus

We did finally have a very pleasant rescheduled trip to Hastings, but I think that’s it for the winter – ideas for 2024 please.
