Young Families in the Village

Somebody pointed out to me that we have recently had a significant influx of families with young children into the village. So I was thinking that it would be good to see if we can set up opportunities for them all to get together. Mum and toddler groups? After school activities? Either in the hall or at signpost field? Perhaps village picnics – after all next week is going to be hot and sunny! Can you get chatting among those you know and let me know how we can help. The hall is available and the Golden Green Association can help with any funding required.

In addition some of the new familes may not have registered their email address so that they can receive this newsletter. Contact us on gghamlet@outlook.com.

Road Closures

So the works on Three Elm Lane have finished and next week Hartlake Road will be closed until 12th October. Where Three Elm Lane was open in the evening, I’m not sure Hartlake will be, so take care, especially trying to get past the barriers when it is open. The last time it was closed we had a lot of angry drivers coming all the way from Tudeley and even trying to barge through the barriers. Beware big holes in the road! It will be useful if we can keep everybody updated with the facebook page.

Minibus trip to Hastings

Having postponed because of a storm, we had a very enjoyable trip to Hastings last month (although I did inadvertantly share my ice cream with a seagull!) …… nice to see some new faces on our trips. There is scope for another trip at the end of September. Let mw know if you might want to join and also give me ideas for new destinations ….. Contact Alec.

Community Warden

Community wardens’ aims are to foster community wellbeing, support the elderly and vulnerable and help with accessing community services.

KCC are planning to redesign the Community Warden Service to cut the budget by £1 million, which will mean fewer wardens covering bigger areas. If you think the changes may affect you, send KCC your views by completing this questionnaire. The Consultation closes on 3 October.

Our Community Warden for East Peckham and Hadlow (including Golden Green) is Diane Wakeling. Contact her on 07813 713740 diane.wakeling@kent.gov.uk.

My Community Voice
My Community Voice is a Kent Police/Neighbourhood Watch messaging service that sends updates about the local area directly from the police officers themselves. You can also respond to alerts, share information and report issues that are affecting you. Sign up to receive alerts. (Note it’s not for reporting crimes, which should be reported in the usual way (https://www.kent.police.uk/ro/report/ocr/af/how-to-report-a-crime/)
